Since 1935, the Archbishop’s Seminary Tea has been a cherished tradition in the Archdiocese of Portland, bringing together clergy, seminarians, and the faithful for an afternoon of camaraderie and support. This annual gathering offers a unique opportunity for attendees to meet and connect with esteemed guests, including Archbishop Alexander Sample, Bishop Peter Smith, Retired Archbishop John Vlazny, Retired Bishop Kenneth Steiner, Abbot Jeremy Driscoll, and Fr. Jeff Eirvin from Mt. Angel Abbey.

Beyond fellowship, the Tea serves as a vital fundraiser dedicated to supporting the education of seminarians preparing for service in the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon. Currently, 27 seminarians are pursuing their studies, with seven beginning their first year of formation. Their journey requires both financial and spiritual support from the community.

This year, the Archbishop’s Seminary Tea will take place on May 7, 2025, at the Portland Golf Club from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. What began 90 years ago as a small gathering in private homes, where members lovingly prepared tea sandwiches and baked cookies, has grown into a significant event, honoring its rich heritage while adapting to contemporary needs.

Through the generous contributions of benefactors, this event continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of seminarians. Support—whether through donations, volunteer work, or attendance—ensures that this tradition can be sustained and expanded for years to come. Gratitude is extended to those who have already contributed their time and resources to this mission.
