Monday’s Chrism Mass brought together more than 1,000 faithful—including 147 priests, 34 deacons, and 60 religious brothers and sisters. In his homily, Archbishop Sample spoke passionately about mission renewal in Western Oregon. He called on all of us—clergy and laity alike—to rededicate ourselves to the mission entrusted to us by Jesus Christ, proclaiming: “We are one Church in Western Oregon. Our mission is to witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to make disciples for Jesus.”

Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Friday, Feb. 14, to undergo testing and treatment for bronchitis, the Vatican said. After a full week in medical care, the Vatican announced Feb. 22 the Holy Father had suffered a respiratory crisis and required a blood transfusion.
