Special Ministries of the Archbishop include:
The Oregon Catholic Conference – The Oregon Catholic Conference (OCC) represents the Archdiocese of Portland and the Diocese of Baker on issues of public policy. It advocates and promotes the pastoral teaching of the Catholic Church on the state and national levels in service to the Catholic people of Oregon.
The Office of Divine Worship – The Office of Divine Worship helps foster and enhance divine worship and prayer in the Archdiocese of Portland. Through education, consultation, training and support, it assists parishes to ensure that the liturgy and sacraments are celebrated nobly, beautifully and in accord with the liturgical norms of the Church.
Special Projects – Special Projects include diocesan events and activities or projects which fall outside of the normal work of the Pastoral Center offices, and which the archbishop deems important for the life of the local Church. Examples include planning and organizing pilgrimages, significant anniversary celebrations, and universal or national Church initiatives such as the Year of Mercy or Fortnight for Freedom.
Master of Ceremonies – Serves as the liturgical master of ceremonies for the archbishop at diocesan liturgies, especially those at which the archbishop presides or in which he participates or attends.
The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council – The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council (APC) acts as a consultative body to the archbishop in matters of pastoral planning for the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon. It is comprised of one representative from each of thirteen pastoral regions. In addition, two priests, two religious, one deacon, and several appointed members serve on the council. This advisory body meets quarterly with the archbishop.
